The Squaw Valley Resort has been undergoing various expansion plans and just recently, it crossed yet another hurdle on its way to approval. According to a Tahoe-based reporter Army Westervelt, the project will move to County Board of Supervisors this fall for the final approval.

The resort’s CEO, Mr. Andy Wirth, is pleased with the civility of the meeting and the discussions around the key issue, which is the current norm around transit and traffic. The issue has nothing to do with the resort’s efforts on the redevelopment packet.

Jesse Patterson who is the vice-director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe believes the region cannot handle any more traffic, and their primary concern is that excellent projects for the lake would not be approved since down the line, there won’t be any room left for traffic. Wirth wants to lead the charge in resolving the traffic issue. He says, they have developed some initiatives believes come this or next fall, they will approach voters to fund Placer County-wide and look for credible mass transit system at North Lake Tahoe. Patterson wants less talk, and more action and he wants to see a substantive commitment to the environmental document.
