Alex Pall, Drew Taggart, and getting “Closer” to creating an image

Following the release of their much anticipated single “Closer”, the Chainsmokers members, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart sat down for an interview with Interview Magazine. During this interview they discussed the new sound and territory that this single was going to take. The artists had always wanted to create an identity that was different from other EDM groups. This song was looking to be their chance, unlike their other hits, this one was going to have Taggart sing on the track.

Pall, one of the DJs in the group, said that artists have always been trying to put intimacy into EDM and this was hard, as EDM producers usually were in the background, allowing others to sing and write the lyrics. Following “Closer”, the duo may be onto something.

Drew and Alex met in New York City after being introduced by a mutual friend. Drew was from Maine, but studied at Syracuse University so the trip to New York City was easy. After meeting, and discussing the growth of DJs and EDM music, the two connected and began working on songs the very next day. The two had seen the growing popularity of EDM music, and began performing and working on songs as much as possible. They eventually gained popularity with their song “#SELFIE” and over a period of time, this sent them performing on a worldwide tour; their tireless effort had paid off. Before long the duo gained more success with their hits “Roses” and then “Don’t Let Me Down.”

Pall describes this period as good for their growth, but not good for crafting their sound.

It was during this time that they began work on “Closer”, a song in which Halsey was going to sing and help write. Taggart also decided to be involved in the lyrics and vocals on the song, he felt that they had a lot of emotions about college, relationships, and life, that they wanted to share. The duo finally felt that this would give them the chance to be distinguished from other artists. The future looks bright.

The Chainsmokers Speak on Their New Song, “Sick Boy”

Despite breaking through the billboard top 10 in 2015, it seems like The Chainsmokers have been around forever. The Chainsmokers are made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart: a producer and a DJ. Unlike most musical acts, The Chainsmokers normally only produce the must. They don’t often hop on the vocals. The Chainsmokers are best known for their songs “Closer,” “Roses,” and “Don’t Let Me Down.”

The Chainsmokers recently sat down with an interview with Forbes just before a concert in New York City.

The Chainsmokers barely released any music in 2017, but they intend to change that in 2018. “We haven’t put out a song in nine months,” Drew Taggart said. “We used to put out a song pretty much every month.” On the heels of their musical absence, they have released “Sick Boy.”

“Sick Boy” is drastically different from their previous songs. Most of their music is all about enjoying life and having a good time. The name alone signals listeners that what they are about to hear is not your typical Chainsmokers song.

The next topic is a little bit darker,” Taggart confessed. “I think that’s the tone of scoeity right now.”

The song itself is all about how The Chainsmokers view America. The vocals of the song speak from the perspective of the average young citizen in the United States of America. A citizen who isn’t carrying on with social norms; one that is aware of the actions around him. The vocals are complimented with a light EDM backdrop over a pop heavy instrumental.

Frustration,” Taggart said after he was asked what made “Sick Boy” have such a darker tone than previous songs. “Watching yourself become a caricature of who you are,” he added.

Alex Pall, the other half of The Chainsmokers says they are still holding themselves to high standards.

“We’re going to keep them coming,” Taggart said when he was asked if more dark sounding songs are on the way.

Queens of Drama TV Show

Queens of Drama is a reality TV show being aired on the CW network. It is from the production company Thinkfactory Media. Simply put this newer TV drama show is about a group of actresses. These actresses are known for various daytime and primetime roles that they once had. Their goal in the show is to create a show together that will be accepted and given a chance for a pilot episode deal.

Actresses that are starring in Queens of Drama include the very talented ladies: Vanessa Marcil from General Hospital, Donna Mills from General Hospital, Crystee Pharris from Passions, Lindsay Hartley from All my Children, Crystal Hunt from One Life to Live, Hunter Tylo from the Bold and the Beautiful and Joan Collins from Dynasty. The male actors in the series so far are Jason-Shane Scott, Mark Zunino, Lorenzo Lamas and Sam Sarpong. Not surprisingly Queens of Drama is more about the ladies and there isn’t a great focus on the male characters.

The TV show Queens of Drama is fairly similar to the TV shows like Hot in Cleveland, Desperate Housewives, Sex and the City and Devious Maids. It’s basically similar to most female centered cast shows. The main part is them interacting over getting a pilot worthy show so it is a very female point of view show.

One of the actresses in Queens of Drama is known for her work on two successful soap opera/drama TV shows in the past and for her movie career. Crystal Hunt was on the shows Guiding Light and One Life to Live. She was nominated for an Emmy for her role in The Guiding Light in 2005. Her movie acting career has leaned more toward comedy drama or drama genre films. She was in the drama movies The Derby Stallion and 23 Blast. She acted in the comedy drama films Sydney White and Magic Mike XXL.

As well as being an actress, Facebook is a great window into how Crystal Hunt has many other jobs that she’s done during her lifetime. She’s a producer of the horror drama movie Talbot County. She’s been a model in beauty pageants and in TV commercials. Her pet boutique is called My Pets Dream Boutique. This pet store is located in the same city where she was born and grew up: Clearwater, Florida.  Check out Crystal’s Instagram feed for great pictures from the storefront.
