Alex Pall, Drew Taggart, and getting “Closer” to creating an image

Following the release of their much anticipated single “Closer”, the Chainsmokers members, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart sat down for an interview with Interview Magazine. During this interview they discussed the new sound and territory that this single was going to take. The artists had always wanted to create an identity that was different from other EDM groups. This song was looking to be their chance, unlike their other hits, this one was going to have Taggart sing on the track.

Pall, one of the DJs in the group, said that artists have always been trying to put intimacy into EDM and this was hard, as EDM producers usually were in the background, allowing others to sing and write the lyrics. Following “Closer”, the duo may be onto something.

Drew and Alex met in New York City after being introduced by a mutual friend. Drew was from Maine, but studied at Syracuse University so the trip to New York City was easy. After meeting, and discussing the growth of DJs and EDM music, the two connected and began working on songs the very next day. The two had seen the growing popularity of EDM music, and began performing and working on songs as much as possible. They eventually gained popularity with their song “#SELFIE” and over a period of time, this sent them performing on a worldwide tour; their tireless effort had paid off. Before long the duo gained more success with their hits “Roses” and then “Don’t Let Me Down.”

Pall describes this period as good for their growth, but not good for crafting their sound.

It was during this time that they began work on “Closer”, a song in which Halsey was going to sing and help write. Taggart also decided to be involved in the lyrics and vocals on the song, he felt that they had a lot of emotions about college, relationships, and life, that they wanted to share. The duo finally felt that this would give them the chance to be distinguished from other artists. The future looks bright.

The Chainsmokers Speak on Their New Song, “Sick Boy”

Despite breaking through the billboard top 10 in 2015, it seems like The Chainsmokers have been around forever. The Chainsmokers are made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart: a producer and a DJ. Unlike most musical acts, The Chainsmokers normally only produce the must. They don’t often hop on the vocals. The Chainsmokers are best known for their songs “Closer,” “Roses,” and “Don’t Let Me Down.”

The Chainsmokers recently sat down with an interview with Forbes just before a concert in New York City.

The Chainsmokers barely released any music in 2017, but they intend to change that in 2018. “We haven’t put out a song in nine months,” Drew Taggart said. “We used to put out a song pretty much every month.” On the heels of their musical absence, they have released “Sick Boy.”

“Sick Boy” is drastically different from their previous songs. Most of their music is all about enjoying life and having a good time. The name alone signals listeners that what they are about to hear is not your typical Chainsmokers song.

The next topic is a little bit darker,” Taggart confessed. “I think that’s the tone of scoeity right now.”

The song itself is all about how The Chainsmokers view America. The vocals of the song speak from the perspective of the average young citizen in the United States of America. A citizen who isn’t carrying on with social norms; one that is aware of the actions around him. The vocals are complimented with a light EDM backdrop over a pop heavy instrumental.

Frustration,” Taggart said after he was asked what made “Sick Boy” have such a darker tone than previous songs. “Watching yourself become a caricature of who you are,” he added.

Alex Pall, the other half of The Chainsmokers says they are still holding themselves to high standards.

“We’re going to keep them coming,” Taggart said when he was asked if more dark sounding songs are on the way.

Kim Dao and Her Boyfriend Discuss Their Long Distance Relationship

In this video, Kim Dao and her boyfriend Eric have met up in Singapore and are sitting down to talk about their long-distance relationship. The questions come from suggestions from her followers on her social media accounts. With over a dozen questions with some detailed answers, there is a lot of new information that Kim and Eric share with us. One of the early questions asks Kim what was her first gift to her boyfriend. She tells us that her first gift to him was a watch, but she was a broke college student at the time so in order for her to afford it she borrowed the money from her boyfriend to pay for it. They talked about how the place they enjoyed the most as a couple in Japan was Hokkaido. They went during the snow festival, and Eric said that Hokkaido is quite different from Japan and is a lot less crowded and quieter than most other parts of the country. Kim and Eric talked about how they deal with the physical distance in their relationship by diving into their work, with Eric having a particularly busy year. They also message each other every day and frequently use Skype and social media to stay in touch. They, later on, talked about how they broke up the time spent away from each other by visiting each other at different times throughout the year with a trip about three times during the year. The rest of the questions mostly focused on their relationship, how they met, first impressions and future goals. Kim ends the video by asking the viewers to suggest videos for her and her boyfriend to film when they are together. Learn more: http://inspirery.com/kim-dao/
